One of my best meals ever was when I was 16 years old. My Grandma asked me what kind of food I wanted for my birthday. Even though my birthday is in August I had to have some of her Menudo so that's what I chose. Grandma made really great Menudo and I broke from the traditional corn tortillas and had flour. I remember eating that meal between 8 and 10 on a Saturday morning. She did make some of the best homemade corn tortillas too. They were thick and very moist and tasted so good with everything you put in them. The food was simple but it was from the heart and from hands that were strong and able. To watch her knead the dough for the tortillas and see her work tirelessly over food for hours and hours was an inspiration. She was one of the first influences I had in cooking and watching her made me want to try it too. Because of all those things this was one of my best meals ever. I sure miss her. Grandma I'll always love you.
